Designed by the renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the Beckman Center opened in 1988. The building is a long, low structure that houses an auditorium, conference and meeting rooms, a full-service restaurant kitchen, dining rooms and terraces, private guest offices, and a gallery highlighting the inventions and scientific accomplishments of Dr. Arnold O. Beckman.
The Beckman Center is owned and operated by the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering, private, non-profit organizations which advise the federal government on questions of science, technology, and health policy. |
